Question: where can I get quality yogurt from? I go look at the Greek stuff and it is still loaded with tons of sugar. Considering the anti dairy veganism of the healthfood stores, I concerned I’ll get lectures if I try and buy some. Not on any particular diet except eating more whole grains and everything in moderation.
The mediterranean diet if practiced like it was used to be practiced, is healthy. Yet today, the fresh ingredients have been interchanged to meaty fats, yes, not fatty meats but meaty fats like gyros, vast amounts of white bread and of course the americanisation has taken its toll on the mediterranean countries.
However, not all ethnicities will benefit from this diet, Ezkimos for instance have a different genetic makeup than Mediterraneans. Their bodies make use of protein and fat best of all
it is more of a mediterranean life style that improves health and longevity. healthy diet exercise and low stress.

I totally agree! You didn’t cover weight loss. When I went to Italy I noticed very few people were fat. Even the old people were slim. When I say slim, I mean not even a slight belly at all. They eat all day long and stay slim.

get off your temperance soap box and do the research yourself. moderate drinkers have a lower mortality rate than abstainers. moderate alcohol use doesn’t cause damage to any organs. name one study that shows any negative effects of moderate drinking. what nonsense.

@mysankchuary: If you have a problem with alcohol, like many do in the U.S., then don’t drink. But please do not misinform people but irresponsibly stating that a small amount of wine will damage the brain and other organs. People are too smart for that silliness. Or at least if you do, cite some real research to back that up as all the other research on wine shows health benefits when it is drunk in moderation. Shame on you.
